Wallet performance

MATTR makes every effort to optimise wallet performance but this is also influenced by the user's device make and model. Sub-optimal performance has been observed on devices released more than 4-5 years ago and holding more than 10 credentials.

From our performance review on older test devices, performance lags are specifically experienced in the Activity tab or when users switch between tabs.

MATTR continuously assesses wallet performance and is committed to implement performance enhancement features that will help improve the overall wallet experience.

User Settings

User settings can affect wallet performance. This includes, but may not be limited to, the following list:

  • Enabling camera access: Device camera is required in many issuance and verification flows. Failing to provide the wallet with camera access will prevent using these flows.

  • Enabling biometrics: Access to the wallet can be configured to use biometrics authentication. Failing to enable biometrics will prevent using this functionality.

  • Notifications settings: The wallet can notify users when certain events occur (e.g. a new credential is available). Disabling app notifications will prevent the wallet from sending these notifications, and users will only discover them when they open the app.

  • Light mode/dark mode: May affect adherence with accessibility standards and overall UI integrity.

  • Different font scaling: May affect adherence with accessibility standards and overall UI integrity.

Connectivity & settings

Some wallet features require access to the public internet, with most file transfers being relatively low data. However, larger credentials with images may be up to 2MB in size. Sources such as JSON-LD schemas and the manifest.json from tenants may be fetched as required and cached.

Currently there is very limited support for language settings, including US and UK English. This is automatically determined by the locale settings on your mobile device.
