MATTR Data Processing Agreement - What's Changed
Changes posted October 28, 2026
MATTR published the MATTR Data Processing Agreement on October 28, 2026.
The Data Processing Agreement (DPA) replaces the MATTR Data Processing Terms. It is a new document rather than an update to the Data Processing Terms, and it works together with the updated MATTR Customer Agreement and MATTR Data Sub-processors page published on the same date. Key points:
- Global scope. The DPA applies wherever we Process Customer Personal Data as a Processor, rather than only where the GDPR applies, and covers the privacy laws of New Zealand, Australia, the EU, the UK, Switzerland and the United States (including the CCPA).
- Roles. The DPA sets out when we act as a Processor on your behalf and when we act as a Controller (for example, for billing and account administration).
- Sub-processors. We give at least 30 days' notice before a new Sub-processor begins Processing Customer Personal Data, with a process for raising objections. The Data Sub-processors page now separates Data Sub-processors from MATTR Service Providers to support this.
- Personal Data Breaches. We will notify you of a Personal Data Breach promptly and in any event within 48 hours.
- Security measures. Annex 2 describes the technical and organisational measures we use to protect Customer Personal Data.
- International transfers. The DPA sets out how Restricted Transfers of European Data are made, relying in order on adequacy decisions, the Data Privacy Framework, and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The Standard Contractual Clauses (including the UK Addendum) are available as a PDF download and only apply when separately signed by both parties.
The previous MATTR Data Processing Terms are available for reference and archival purposes.
